Firewood needs to be ‘seasoned’ before using and should be stored at least a year after the felling, and the faster it is split the faster it dries. To ensure you are getting the most efficient and environmentally friendly combustion, it is recommended to check your wood using a digital moisture meter. The optimal moisture percentage in firewood should be between 10-15. Simply split the wood and insert the metal tip into the inside of the wood for a quick highly accurate rating.
